This is happiness...
A Friday evening, 75 degrees and only the sound of birds chirping to interrupt my reading. Well that's not exactly true...I do have the 90's music channel playing (hey, when was the last time you heard the Spice Girls...confession: I caught myself singing along).
And so, I am ready to begin my first weekend without crutches after 8 LONG weeks. A glass of cheap white wine (that may have been opened for to long but who cares), a porch swing and a great book.
Uh oh...Sorry, excuse me, but I believe they are playing my song...

What do to, what to do...
Decisions, decisions...
Michael and I have decided to take a little vacay to celebrate our 1st anniversary (yay!). And since Michael so generously planned our honeymoon, he has me taking the reins for this short trip. This idea truly appeals to my (slightly) anal list making side, but on the other hand the options are kind of overwhelming me. So far we have narrowed it down to either a whirlwind trip in the NYC or a relaxing sun-filled destination (location unknown).
What would you do?

So what are your plans for summer vacation?
So, Lacey what did you do on your summer vacation...relax on an exotic beach, dine at the top restaurant in a big city, go from Casper white to a nice golden bronze..uh no...I watched all of the movies deemed "Modern Classics" by yahoo movie critics. At least that's the plan.
You see, Michael and I suffer from the horrible problem of having amazing family and friends. I know its such a tragedy that they all want to see us and our friends want to further show their love by marrying...so until this horrible affliction is over we must use all available vacation time and funds to visit each and every family member and attend all events. But I do know it could be much worse. We could be like my BIL and SIL who I think had like 30 weddings in one year. (Honestly I say all of this in jest, we love seeing everyone and wish we could see them more ).
And so, to get away from it all and armed with our Netflix subscription, I am letting Hollywood take me around the world. From the beaches of Miami (Heat) to the the wine country of California (Sideways) Michael and I will see far and wide...all from the comfort of our couch. After all, I don't know many who can say they've traveled with a Hobbit.

How many have you seen??? I was shocked at how many little checks I had.

Sipping Cosmos and wearing 4-inch heels...in the sand
You would think I am talking about our trip this weekend to Florida (pictures coming soon!) but after seeing this little video it's all I can think of:
Who wants to join me???

Spring is here!
Michael and I spent our first Easter in Virginia and it was just gorgeous!
The Easter bunny did stop by our house this year, leaving me with a basket full of goodies. He did not leave any eggs (which I guess is a good thing). Me hobbling around on crutches in my night gown chasing plastic eggs may have raised a few eyebrows in our neighborhood. Although I will proudly admit to hunting eggs with my family until I was in my early 20's. No shame in my game...our Easter bunny left money!
After a short delay, okay maybe a LONG delay do to a broken tripod and Michael's NEED to fix it, we stepped out in our Easter finest and hit the road.
This was the first weekend to put the top down on the car too. The skies were the perfect blue and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. After much research we decided D.C.'s cherry trees would have to wait this year. Parking would be a nightmare and once again the crutches would get in the way with hundreds of thousands of people. BUT we found the next best thing.
The Meadowlark Gardens are near our house and it's beautiful.
We finished up the day with Easter dinner at Sarah and Josh's. The sides, the essential Honey Baked Ham, and eating on their wedding china made the meal just perfect. We also discussed their upcoming kitchen remodel plans and I volunteered to help with the tiling (I may regret this later) . I look at it as research for when we finally get a place of our own.
When we reach that reality I will get my own pink tool belt (bedazzled of course) and get swinging with a sledge-hammer...and I will have my own version of HGTV's results (minus the Canadian accent).

I can barely contain myself!
Watching this is the best way to start your day!
I have to host a party in celebration.
P.S. How sad is it that I still can't watch the show and not notice every time someone is wearing J.Crew.

Just a little slice of Heaven via Atlanta
Michael usually brings me a little something whenever he travels. While he was gone I emailed him a link to Sublime Doughnuts. I had read about it here. When Bakerella says something is amazing, you can take one look at her pictures and believe she knows what she is talking about. I mean come on, the woman created Cake Pops.
But you know what is even more amazing...knowing you have five more to sample!
I guess Michael will have to make a milk run...
P.S. We may have already eaten a few...amazing!

The Flavors (starting from top left): Thin Mint Cookie, Cookies and Cream, Reese Peanut Butter Cup (it got kind of smushed on the plane), A-town with cream, Smore, and Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter
